question Star Trek Encyclopedia
« Thread started on: Apr 30th, 2004, 10:38pm »

Is there any news about the next publication of the encyclopedia? The last issue dates back to 1999 and a lot of things has happened since then in the Federation.

ALL factual books are selling abysmally for Pocket. There are no new ones planned for the future.

Wow, didn't know they had one. Does it feature all ST facts and stuff about the series? I'd love to have a ST timeline so I know how everything fits in.

Pocket Books published a 1999 edition that included all the Star Trek series up to the fall episodes of season 5 of Star Trek Voyager and Star Trek: Insurrection but it doesn't include the animated series because it's not considered part of the Star Trek timeline. I prefer the CD version then the book version because it includes different video sequences.

This edition is getting a little old since there were two more seasons of Voyager along with the 4 seasons of Star Trek: Enterprise and Star Trek: Nemesis. Pocket Books will need to publish a new edition to include prefederation history. cool

I checked Pocket Books web site and they have no intention to publishe any encyclopedia. It's the same thing with the author since there's no profit for them to make a new encyclopedia angry

However to get futher names and definitions people can log to www.memory-alpha.org

I have the 2nd edition hardcover book. When I saw the 3rd edition, I realized, "Eh, when you really think about it, they didn't update it much." Plus it was done I think before Insurrection. So you have up to season 5 Voyager and First Contact. But you dont have the season 6 and 7 editions of Voyager in the book nor Insurrection or Nemesis or enterprise or the new movie so maybe a few more years and hopefully they can do another edition. It's a great book to have. I love it.
